Norwegian Carols
Norwegian Carols sung by Solvguttene
Solvguttene is a group beloved by the population of Norway. It was founded in 1940 by Torstein Grythe.
Today the chorus consists of about 50 boys and 20 men. The boys go through an apprentice period in a separate choir, before the can become members of Solvguttene. Solvguttene today are under the leadership of the music department of Norwegian Radio. At the same time they have established themselves as a choir with high musical standards and extensive touring experience. They tour the entire country, and also represent Norway in a number of cultural arrangements around the world. Selections among the Carols (all in Norwegian, of course) on this CD include: Julemotett Deilig er jorden Det kimer nå til julefest Det hev ei rose sprunge Deilig er den himmel blå Glade jul, hellige jul. Jeg er så glad hver julekveld Jeg synger julekvad Kling no, klokka Her kommer, dine små Kim, alle klokker Et barn er født i Betlehem A, kom nå med lovsang Å du heilage Marias vuggesang Høyr kor englar syng frå sky
